ÇÁ·Îºó¼È ½ÃÇè FAQ |
| |
 |
| Q. How do I find
out my exam results if I am unable to access the web site? |
 |
| A. You must contact
your school or school board office. The Ministry cannot
release exam results |
| over the telephone. |
 |
| Q. I received my
June results and they were wrong. What do I do? |
 |
| A. Contact your
school or school board office and ask them to fax your
correct school mark to the |
| Ministry. If this happens during
August or September you will be issued a revised transcript
within a week or two of the changes being reported. Otherwise,
a new transcript must be ordered from the Ministry. |
 |
| Q. I
just received my exam results and they show N/R for the
exam mark. How can I |
| find
out my exam and final marks? |
 |
| A. The 'N/R'
means that the exam score has not been reported because
the Ministry has not |
| received a school percentage
to blend with the exam score. You must contact your school
and ask them to report your school mark to the Ministry.
You will receive a revised transcript in the mail within
a week or two (during August and September only), which
will show your exam and final marks in that subject. |
 |
| Q. I want to write
my provincial exam again. What do I do? |
 |
| A. You may rewrite
your exam within 12 months of completing the course. If
you wrote in June, |
| your next opportunity to write
is in August. Information on the August Exam Session. |
 |
| Q. If I rewrite
my June exam in August, which mark do I keep? |
 |
| A. The Ministry
will use whichever exam result is higher, either June
or August, and blend it with |
| your school mark. |
 |
| Q. I
took English 12 twice during the last school year; which
school mark will be |
| used? |
 |
| A. The Ministry
will take whichever school mark is higher, providing you
retook the course within |
| the last twelve months |
 |
| Q. How many rewrites
am I allowed? |
 |
| A. You may rewrite
a provincial exam once after you have written the exam
for the first time. The |
| rewrite must take place within
twelve months of completing the course. If you retake
the course before you rewrite, you cannot carry over the
first rewrite opportunity. Once you take the course again
you can write the exam, then rewrite the exam once within
the following twelve months. |
 |
| Q. I want to have
my provincial exam remarked. What do I do? |
 |
| A. You need to
make a written request to the Ministry of Education, Student
Certification Branch, |
| PO Box 9886, Stn Prov Govt,
Victoria, BC, V8W 9T6 to have your exam remarked, and
provide the following information: |
your full name and address
your Personal Education Number (PEN)
the exam subject and session date
$50 fee ( certified cheque, money order, VISA, MasterCard
or Interac)
your signature |
 |
| Q. If I take the
course again, do I have to rewrite the exam? |
 |
| A. No, if you
are satisfied with your previous exam mark, you do not
have to write the provincial |
| exam again (providing you retake
the course within twelve months of writing the exam for
the first time). |
 |
| Q. When do I write
my exam in August? |
 |
| A. See the August Exam
Schedule. |
 |
| Q. Where do I go
to write or rewrite my provincial exam in August? |
 |
| A. At one of the August
Exam Centres. |
 |
| Q. If I rewrite
my exam in August, when will I get my results? |
 |
| A. August exam
results are mailed out to students and schools at the
end of the first week in |
| September. There are no exceptions
for providing the August results earlier than this date. |
 |
| Q. Will
I get my results from the August exams in time to send
to the PSIs for |
| September
admission? |
 |
| A. No, the results from
the August exams are not available for September PSI admission
decisions |
 |
| Q. I
just completed EN 12 (or another grade 12 examinable subject)
by |
| correspondence.
When will my new school mark be added to my transcript?
|
 |
| A. Your new school
mark will be added to your record in the month in which
there is a provincial |
| exam in that subject. For instance,
if you completed the course in July, your new school mark
will be added to your record in August (the next exam
session). If that score is higher than your June school
mark, it will be blended with your June exam score and
reported out to you on a revised transcript. If it is
lower than your June results, your June results will be
reported on your transcript. You will not receive another
exam results statement if you do not write the exam again
in August. |
 |
| Q. I
have several students taking an examinable course through
Distance Education |
| or
night school. Who registers them for exams, and how is
their school percentage reported to the Ministry? |
 |
| A. The day school
is responsible for sending in all exam registrations for
students attending their |
| school, whether they are taking
the course at day school or elsewhere. They must also
collect the final school percentages from Distance Education
and night schools, and send them in along with the student's
other final marks. |
 |
| Q. I
have several students at my school who want to rewrite
exams in November or |
| April,
but we do not hold an examination session then. Where
can I send them to write these exams? |
 |
| A. While schools
are not obligated to offer provincial exams in April or
November, schools may |
| choose to hold an examination
session to accommodate students' needs. If your school
will not be holding an examination session, school administrators
should make every effort to assist the student to find
another school to write at. Please remember that schools
are not obligated to accept students who are not registered
there. Please do not refer students to the Ministry as
we can only direct them back to the school for assistance. |
 |
| Q. Why
can't a student at my school access his results online
when he is entering |
| all
demographic information correctly? |
 |
| A. Data that
was sent to the ministry may read differently from what
the student is entering. The |
| school should confirm information
sent in its most recent data transfer against information
the student is using (check for hyphens, e.g., Smith-Brown
vs. Smith Brown). If the school cannot determine the cause
of the problem, it should contact the ministry to check
what is on file. |
 |
| Q. We
have an exchange student who will be writing a provincial
exam. Can the |
| student
use a translation dictionary during the exam? |
 |
| A. No. The Board
of Examiners has ruled that translation dictionaries cannot
be used during |
| provincial exams. English is
the language of instruction, and students should be proficient
in English to write provincial exams in English without
relying on a translation dictionary. |
 |
| Q. One
of my students registered to write a provincial exam but
did not show up to |
| write
the exam. Will the student be penalized? |
 |
| A. No. If a student is registered to
write but does not participate in the exam, it is not
considered an |
| attempt |
 |
